KIAC Women’s Basketball Teams and Awards Announced

FLORENCE, Kentucky — The 2015-16 All-KIAC Women's Basketball Teams and Awards have been conducted with voting from the conference's 13 head coaches and WVU Tech women's basketball landed senior Courtney Fisher on the first team while senior LaKisha Adkins and freshman Savannah Shamblin were named to the second team. Sophomore Julie Conway was honored with a Champions of Character award.

Fisher, a Vallejo, California native, averaged 12.7 points per game and led the conference in field goal percentage at 50.5 percent. The forward holds four rankings in the nation (NAIA DII) including No. 14 in offensive rebounds per game (3.786), No. 27 in total rebounds per game (9.036), No. 28 for her field goal percentage and No. 38 in total rebounds (253).

Shamblin, the only freshman to be named to an all-conference team, finished the season averaging 13.4 points per game and a No. 7 ranking in assists per game (4.679), No. 15 in total assists (131) and No. 34 in assist/turnover ratio (1.845). Adkins (10.6 ppg) dished 116 assists during the season to give her a No. 26 ranking in the nation. The senior is also currently ranked No. 22 in assists per game (4.143).

Also chosen was the KIAC Women's Basketball Champions of Character Team. One player from each school was named to the team including Conway as WVU Tech women's basketball pick as the one who best represented the five character values of the NAIA's Champions of Character program — respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
