SALEM, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's swimming defeated two NCAA DII opponents including the host school Salem University, 143-91, and Alderson Broaddus University, 174-10, in Salem Friday evening.
The team tallied nine first place finishes including three from
Paulo Ignacio, Jr. Ignacio also helped lead the 200 Medley Relay team of
Dan Kelly, Chip Sheldon and
Takoda Grove to the win with a time of 1:43.10. His other first place touches included the 200 Free (1:50.22), 200 Breast (2:11.48) and 200 IM (2:03.33).
Dan Kelly finished on top of the podium twice, in the 50 Free (22.85) and 100 Back (57.70).
Manuel Laguna Gomez finished with a time of 10:11.31 in the 1,000 Free for first place while
Carolus Josefina posted a 2:01.93 in the 200 Back for the top spot.
The 400 Free Relay team of Gomez,
Vinicius Rios,
Marcos de Paula Damaso and Chris Alpeter finished out the meet with a first place finish in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:42.23.
The Gold and Blue return to action November 3 when they travel to Emory, Virginia to face Emory & Henry and Milligan College.
