FAIRMONT, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's and men's swimming competed at NCAA DII Fairmont State University Friday evening. The men's squad stay undefeated in duals, 5-0, after a 99-71 victory while the women fell 21-133 and move to 1-4 this season.

For the men, sophomore Carolus Josefina had a standout night, touching first in all three events he competed in. He helped lead the 400 Free relay team of junior Manuel Laguna Gomez and seniors Dan Kelly and Vinicius Rios to first place with a time of 3:26.88.

The Willemstad, Curacao native also had the fastest time in the 200 Free (1:52.60) and the 200 Backstroke (2:01.12).

Also finishing on top for the men were Gomez in the 50 Free (23.13), sophomore Marcos de Paula Damaso in the 200 Butterfly (2:07.25) and the 500 Free (4:58.86) and junior Felipe Ruiz in the 200 Backstroke (2:01.12).

Senior Isabela Kiesewetter Zandavalli recorded a first place touch in the 200 Backstroke (2:12.15) for the women.

Also picking up points for the women's squad included senior A'ishah Hironimus (2nd, 50 Free, 29.67 and 2nd, 100 Free, 1:04.37) and junior Ana Carolina Loureiro (2nd, 200 Butterfly, 2:38.67).

The Golden Bears will return to action for a rematch with Fairmont State while also hosting Columbia College next year, January 25 when they have their first Beckley, West Virginia home competition in history at the YMCA of Southern West Virginia.
