BECKLEY, West Virginia -- For the first time in program history, WVU Tech women's and men's swimming hosted meets in the YMCA of Southern West Virginia in Beckley, the Golden Bears home pool since the University's move. The No. 5 (NAIA) men's squad defeated Fairmont State University, 141-82. They haven't lost a dual this season and are now 6-0.
Junior
Paulo Ignacio, Jr. picked up two first place wins including the 100 Breast (1:05.34) and 200 Breast (2:31.09). He touched second in the 200 IM (2:23.40).
Sophomore
Marcos de Paula Damaso was on top in the 1500 Free (17:09.38) and 200 Fly (2:26.15).
Junior
Manuel Laguna Gomez touched first in the 200 Free (2:05.36) and 100 Free (57.77).
Gomez was also part of the first place 400 Free Relay team of fellow junior
Felipe Ruiz, senior
Vinicius Rios and sophomore
Carolus Josefina.
Ruiz earned first in the 400 Free (4:35.44) and was second in the 1500 Free (18:47.49).
The team also saw top finishes from freshman
Pau Eslava in the 100 Back (1:03.69) and Josefina who had two first-place touches including the 50 Free (25.58) and 200 Back (2:24.49).
Seniors
George Sheldon (100 Fly, 1:03.44) and
Takoda Grove (200 Back, 2:25.49) were second in their respective events.
The women competed against Fairmont State and Columbia College, dropping both while picking up five first-place finishes.
Seniors
Isabela Kiesewetter Zandavalli and
Mariana Loureiro each touched first in two events.
Zandavalli was on top in the 100 Back (1:11.80) and 400 Free (5:06.72) while Mariana finished first in the 1500 Free (19:06.05) and 200 Breast (2:53.29).

Ana Carolina Loureiro took home the women's last top finish of the night with a time of 4:25.99.
The Golden Bears will finish out their regular season schedule and celebrate seniors tomorrow, Saturday when they host Union College for a 2 p.m. meet. Seniors will be celebrated at approximately 1:45 p.m.
