Golden Bears take a set in home RSC battle

BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech volleyball put up a spirited fight Saturday afternoon at Van Meter Gym, taking a set off Oakland City University before ultimately falling 3–1 (25–17, 23–25, 25–14, 25–20) in River States Conference play.

The Golden Bears (4–23, 3–6 RSC) were led by freshman Aniston Treadway, who delivered 11 kills and two blocks. Freshman Gabriela Lattu added eight kills and two blocks of her own, while senior Nevaeh Wooding chipped in seven kills and three blocks.

Tech recorded 35 kills, 33 assists, 64 digs, five aces and six total blocks as a team. The Golden Bears came alive in Set 2, rallying late to even the match at 1–1 before the Mighty Oaks closed out sets three and four with steady offense.

Sophomore Anaís González paced the setting effort with 17 assists, and junior Addison White added 10 assists, 12 digs and two aces. Senior Peydon Smith anchored the back row with a team-high 18 digs and two aces.

Oakland City (11–11, 1–7 RSC) was led by Eva Hamann with 10 kills and De'sheonna Foster with nine, while Libby Mehringer tallied 21 assists. The Mighty Oaks hit .151 on the match and posted 47 kills and eight service aces.
