Remind us of your hometown.

Toledo, Spain. Historic city, beautiful and a must visit!

Where do you live now?

Albany, New York

Why did you choose to attend WVU Tech?

WVU Tech gave me the opportunity to swim and study engineering at the same time.

What is your fondest memory from your time at Tech?

When I ranked third on 200 yards breaststroke, and my cousin ranked second on 1650 yard freestyle at the same NAIA championships (2018).

Who was your favorite professor(s) at Tech?

There are many great professors at Tech. However, if I must name one alone, it would be Dr. Yogendra Panta. He is a great educator that always looks out for his students and knows how to provide them with the best advice.

Who had the biggest influence on you during your athletic career at WVU Tech?

Myself. Even though coaches would always push me, I would always hold myself accountable for not performing how I wanted at the end of the day.

What is the most valuable thing you gained or learned from your time at WVU Tech?

Time management is key to success. As a student-athlete that was also a resident assistant, I only had time to take care of the things that really matter. Therefore, I really had to learn to manage my time.

What accomplishments at WVU Tech are you most proud of?

  • Winning the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship with the team and ranking top three on NAIA championships.
  • Organizing the 2018 WVU Tech Design Expo. Event that is organized for senior students to present their design project to other students, professors, and employers.
  • Participating in the 2018 NFPA Fluid Vehicle Challenge. Event where we competed using a fluid powered bicycle that was built and designed by a team of four students.
  • Maintaining a community in the residence halls for over 2.5 years that I worked as a Resident Assistant.

Did you continue your athletic career after WVU Tech?

I joined the swim club at WVU for a year during my Master’s degree. Other than that, no other competition since I left WVU Tech.

What was your favorite non-athletic activity at WVU Tech?

Spending time with friends outside of class, going on trips with the WVU Tech adventure crew was fun as well, and spending time with the different engineering organizations were all great activities.

Who is your current employer?

Plug Power

What is your current job title and what does the position entail?

Systems Engineer. We work with fuel cell systems that generate electricity using Hydrogen. My job consists of setting requirements for those systems and ensuring that the requirements are met.

What advice can you give current student-athletes?

Organize yourself very well and push yourself until you achieve your goals.

What accomplishments after WVU Tech are you most proud of?

Contributing in different ways to the releases of the first Plug Power automotive and stationary fuel cell systems. Coding different macros that automate different computer processes. Also, learning about hardware controls for the systems I work with.

How did your athletic involvement aid in the path that you chose following graduation?

Being an athlete taught me that even when you work hard, things do not work out. It made learn how to be persistent with the things I want.
