Bob Foster graduated from West Virginia Tech with his bachelor’s degree in 1957. As a student-athlete he played an integral part of the history making press defense made popular by Neal D. Baisi.

As a starting guard for Coach Baisi, Bob was selected as the Most Valuable Player at the Hoftsra University Tournament and was an integral part of the Tech team that famously averaged over 100 points per game.

After his graduation from Tech, Bob went on to work at Wood County schools where he was a teacher at Hamilton Jr. High and Parkersburg High School. He also served as the Wood County Recreational Director and as a physical education consultant while obtaining his master’s degree. Later, Bob worked as the Director of Federal Programs in Richie County before returning to Parkersburg in 1974 as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director.

In 1978 he was chosen as the Athletic Director for the state of West Virginia while continuing to work at Parkersburg High School until his death in 1980.

Bob is survived by his wife and two sons, Robert Cecil Foster III and Kenneth Hobart Foster.

“Bobby Foster was the type of player that any father would like to have as a son, and every coach should have such a player like he was once in a lifetime.” - Neal Baisi.
