Charles Banks

Charles Banks graduated with his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia Tech in 1986 and was later drafted by the Houston Oilers in the 1986 NFL Draft. Banks experienced much success as an athlete, winning the 4x100 relay state championships in his freshman and senior year of high school. He was also a member of the 220 meter relay that also won a championship.

While a Golden Bear, Charles earned first team WVIAC honors as a running back and helped guide his team to a 6-4 mark his senior season. Charles was taken by the Oilers in the 12th round of the 1986 draft and also earned recognition in the NFL.

After being drafted by Houston, Banks went on to play for the Indianapolis Colts and was named as the NFL player of the game against the Jets after turning in a 167 yard performance. During his NFL career, he rushed for 325 yards and caught 16 passes for 121 yards as a fullback and is a member of the NFLPA and NFL Alumni Association.

Currently, Charles teaches physical education and health for the public schools system in Baltimore, MD. He also serves as the Head Varsity Football Coach for Maritime Academy and runs the Chuck Banks Youth Football Camp where he offers tutoring, mentoring, breakfast, lunch and snacks. In his first youth football camp, Charles was able to offer 10 scholarships to children for a free 30 day camp.

Charles has been married to Monica Banks for the past 19 years and they have two children, Olivia and Chad Banks.
