Women's Basketball
Jerri Aleshire is a 2000 graduate of WVU Tech, having distinguished
herself both on the basketball court and in the classroom in our
demanding Nursing program. The WVU Tech Athletics Hall of Fame
is Jerri’s second Hall of Fame induction. She was first inducted into
the Chapmanville Regional H.S. Hall of Fame in 2008.
Jerri Aleshire came to WVU Tech from Chapmanville Regional H.S.,
WV where she was the valedictorian of her graduating class. At
Chapmanville she earned all-State Honors in basketball three times,
and lead the team to back-to back state tournament appearances, a
first for the school. Jerri finished high school with 1,024 points and
averaged 22.1 ppg her senior year.
After arriving in Montgomery in the fall of 1996 Jerri continued
to play at the high level she had become known for. In her career
at WVU Tech Jerri Aleshire was captain of the Women’s Basketball
Team as a Junior and Senior. She averaged 14.5 points per game as
a senior, and finished her career with 1,159 points, which put her
third on the career points list at that time. Jerri earned a number
of individual honors during her golden Bear career. She made the
1996 Rio-Grande Invitational All-Tournament Team, was a 2000
WVIAC Senior Scholar Athlete Award winner, and represented the
WV Conference on an all-star team that travelled to Belgium and
Holland.
As a student, Jerri continued to live up to the high standard she had
set earlier in her life. At WVU Tech Jerri Aleshire was on the Dean’s
List for eight semesters. In 1997 she was named WVU Tech Freshman
of the Year. In 1999 she received the WVU Tech Department of
Nursing Scholastic Excellence Award and the Department of Nursing
