Hall of Fame
Loarie Hanna Butcher is originally from White Sulpher Springs, WV where she graduated from Greenbrier East High School in 1996. During her senior year, she was a Class AAA First-Team All-State selection in Girls Basketball and in 2002 was inducted into the Greenbrier East High School Hall of Fame. She attended WVU Tech from 1996-2000 and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Health Care Administration and Minor in Business Administration.
While attending WVU Tech, she was a member of the basketball, volleyball and softball teams. Some of Loarie’s basketball accomplishments while attending WVU Tech include graduating as the school’s All- Time Leading Scorer with 1,502 points and the school’s All-Time Leading Rebounder with 1,244. She was the first female player in WVU Tech history to ever score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. She was named First-Team All WVIAC and NCAA DII All-American Honorable Mention in basketball her Junior Year. Loarie also ranked in the Nation’s Top 11 in Rebounding in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball including a career high, third place National Ranking in Rebounding her Sophomore year. Loarie was also a three time Team MVP for Volleyball as well as being named to the WVIAC First-Team All-Conference.
In 2001, Loarie went to work for the House of Delegates Committee on Finance as a Budget Analyst before advancing to Senior Budget Analyst in 2005. She has worked for the House of Delegates for the past 8 years. Loarie currently resides in Charleston, WV with her husband Jason and their three dogs. Loarie and Jason are expecting their first child, a boy, in January.
