Lou attended Parkersburg Catholic High School where he graduated in 1978 before venturing to Montgomery to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Relationships/Labor Studies. After graduating from WV Tech, Lou entered into the automobile business where he eventually went on to own his own business: Louis Thomas Subaru Inc while remaining active in various professional automobile organizations.
As a student-athlete at Tech, Thomas was known for his tenacity, speed and strength on the football field. His efforts as a Golden Bear were routinely recognized by Tech and the WV Conference. Lou was twice named the Defensive Lineman of the year, once named as the Golden Bears’ Team MVP (the first defensive lineman to ever receive the award), and was also name to the First Team All-WVIAC and team captain his senior season.
Lou also made a reputation for himself as a force off the field during his time at Tech. Thomas was named to the “Who’s Who on American Colleges and Universities” in the 1981-82 academic year. When not on the field on in the class room, Lou was extremely active working with youth in the Upper Kanawha Valley as a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
After graduating from WV Tech, Lou and his wife Kathy were bless with three children, Lou Jr., Pam and Andy
