Richard “Dick” Hart is a 1962 Accounting graduate from WV Tech. He has been a lifetime contributor of both, time and financial support, since graduation.

As a student-athlete, Dick played 4 years of basketball and baseball as a walk-on, serving as co-captain of the basketball team his senior year under Coach Baisi. He lettered 4 years in baseball and played 7 different positions, hitting .411 his junior year. As an athlete, Hart was known for playing with his heart and desire in practice and games and was a leader in both sports.

The same can be said for Dick as an alumnus of Tech. He continually keeps up with addresses and phone numbers of Tech athletes and cheerleaders, even going so far as to call and write many of them to update them on Tech activities and happenings. Dick has served as president of the Golden Bear Athletic Club and has also set up a student/basketball scholarships in his name.

Currently, he is an adjunct instructor/counselor at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, NC where he teaches resume writing. Dick also critiques and re-writes resumes for individuals who have lost their jobs. He has reviewed, written and re-written over 6,000 resumes in the last 8 years. Hart has also published two books on resumes; with his most recent being “Make Your Resume Talk”, a percent of the proceeds from his book sales go to his scholarship fund. Dick and his wife Nancy, a 1963 Tech graduate and cheerleader, currently reside in Holly Springs, North Carolina. They have 2 sons, Brad (AL) and Andy (VA) and 4 grandchildren.

Hart has also previously been honored by Tech as Alumnus of the Year and Distinguished Alumnus of Tech
