Timothy “Tim” A. Meyer was born in Columbus, Ohio. His family relocated to Elkview, West Virginia and grew up on the Elk River. Tim attended Herbert Hoover High School, where he played football and earned All-State Honors his junior and senior years.

Tim began his college football career at West Virginia University Institute of Technology in the fall of 1992. During Tim's sophomore year, he started at right offensive tackle and never missed a start there for three years. He earned all WVIAC honors his sophomore, junior and senior years, the 1993 WV Tech Offensive Player of the Year award and was selected Co-Player of the Week with his fellow offensive linemen, Sean Ruth, Guy Olinger, Sean Protzman and Matt Moresea. Tim was team captain his sophomore, junior and senior years.

After his college playing days were over, Tim played for the West Virginia Lightning, a semi-pro team in Charleston for two years. He played with many of his former Golden Bear teammates and selected as an All-American Offensive Guard in 1997.

Following his time with the Lightning, Tim began his coaching career at George Washington High School, where he coached under former WVU Tech Defensive Coordinator, Steve Edwards, Jr. The following year, he was hired to teach shop at Herbert Hoover High School and joined the coaching staff under head coach Steve Stoffel, Sr. as an offensive line coach. Tim served as an assistant coach from 2000 through 2008. When Coach Stoffel retired in 2009, Tim became the fifth head coach in Herbert Hoover High School history. He served as head coach from 2009 through the 2019 season, taking the team to the state playoffs in 2009, 2010, 2015 and 2016. In 2015, he was named the Kanawha Valley Football Coach of the Year. In 2019, he retired from coaching to
spend more time with his family. Ten Herbert Hoover players were named first-team All-State selections during his tenure as head coach.

In 2021, Tim returned to help the Huskies as defensive coordinator for the current head coach, Joey Fields. The team had an undefeated regular season record, only the second time in school history. Their defense was the #1 in the state, having five shutouts and, on average, gave up only 4.2 points per game during the regular season.

For the past 22 years, Tim has taught cabinetry at Herbert Hoover High School. His program has had remarkable success and featured in several publications. He has written several grants to equip the shop with the most up-to-date equipment. The shop program has completed several large projects including a 60’ U-shaped cherry conference room table for the State Board of Education valued at $60,000, several sets of office furniture for the WVSSAC and numerous kitchen and vanity cabinets for residents of the Elk River. They also make, market, and sell artistic crafts. Standardized scores for student certification are consistently above the national average.

Tim is the third child of Suzanne Meyer. He is very close to his siblings, who include his older brother Chris, older sister Eileen and younger sister Kathy.
Tim and his wife, Carrie, have been married for almost 20 years and are parents to a son, Kemp, 11. They live in Charleston, West Virginia.
